To Robert Gordon was inspired by an incredible discovery made a few years prior: a poem written by Louis Riel to his jailer, Robert Gordon, just days before Riel's execution. The poem, written in English by Riel, is absolutely beautiful. I was able to photograph the original poem! and the paper on which it was written at the University of Saskatchewan Archives in Saskatoon. The five-minute film was well-received and is now on permanent rotation at the Batoche National Historic Site in Saskatchewan. The film also won an award at the Saskatchewan Motion Picture Industry Association (Showcase) Awards in 2009.
