The Rite of Spring

‍**Rite of Spring** was filmed in February 2023 in Victoria, BC, during a period of bleak weather with little sunlight. One day the winds began to howl, producing incredibly powerful ocean crashing waves. I was captivated by the atmosphere and knew I would use the footage of the waves in a film along with Igor Stravinsky's music. The Rite of Spring, with its dissonant sound was a perfect match for the natural sounds of the ocean coast, including its powerful waves. The film's underlying theme is to provide resistance to things getting in your way, fight for what you know is right - fight for the presence and rite of spring.
