3 ½ is a film shot on super 8 film capturing my daughter's growth and development throughout various stages of her young life up age of 3 ½. The footage includes images soon after birth, first steps, and playing in puddles on the street for the first time. The film also explores my daughter's initial inclinations towards creativity - her innate desire to make art, make a mark on a page, and doodle. The film delves into various themes about the human condition, but none as profound as the question of why humans have a desire to make and see their own marks and doodles on a page. The film purposes the question: is this gesture one of the first signs of the process of self-discovery and self-identity? I consider this film to be one of my best.
