Gordon Pepper

Gordon Pepper is an internationally acclaimed independent filmmaker from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Gordon’s short films have been selected to screen at film festivals around the world. His three short films produced from 2021 - 2023, Annabel Lee, Discarnate: McLuhan’s Wake, and This is Maki, have each been selected to screen at numerous international film festivals. Discarnate: McLuhan’s Wake was awarded Best Experimental Film at four major international film competitions. In addition, his poetic film Moonlight Sonata (2021) has received over 60,000 views on YouTube. While teaching film production and film studies courses at the University of Regina (2000 - 2008), Gordon was the recipient of the University of Regina’s Inspiring Teaching Award and was singled out in MacLean’s Magazine as one of the university’s top professors. Working as the Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative's Executive Director (2008 - 2020), Gordon's leadership inspired unprecedented membership and production growth. He was instrumental in initiating the Saskatchewan Independent Film Awards (SIFA), as well as numerous other workshops, screenings and programmed events in support of Saskatchewan's independent filmmaking community.

Born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Gordon is the youngest of four siblings. His parents Jim and Thelma Pepper were important role models in developing Gordon’s love for education, sports, culture and art. Gordon has three university degrees, including B.A. (Psychology) from the University of Saskatchewan, B.A. Honors (Film Studies) from Carleton University and B.A.A. (Film Production) from Ryerson University
